LOCK IDENTIFICATION & DRILLING TECHNIQUES

Duration: 1/2 Day

This course has been designed for government departments that do not allow the supply of picks to staff or individuals that wish to learn how to drill locks correctly.

The course will teach you how to identify and drill locks correctly looking through the keyhole at the keyway, each lock has its own unique way of telling you exactly what it is from the colour, the key gauge, the shape of keyway, the cut out in the hard plate etc.

If you cannot identify the lock correctly it is unlikely you will drill correctly or even know what pick to use to open the lock, this course includes  the cd which contains keyway comparisons, lock id, best pick to use etc, this CD has taken over 300 hours to compile.

We will not just teach you the methods but will also give you the confidence to go and do the job, although we specialise in non destructive lock opening which is why we also teach all the Bs3621 picks for opening locks there are times when a faulty lock has to be drilled or the pick you are using cannot work due to a low lever belly etc.

We will give you a CD containing all the drill points needed as part of the course, the CD contains high quality photo's with drill points for stumps and gatings along with the best pick to use  and best method of drilling for each particular lock. We will teach you to drill virtually every  lock available on the market from rim to euro cylinder, 3 lever 5 lever and Bs3621 locks, how to beat hard plate and hardened pins, how to beat the burr often found on mortice locks when drilling, why you don't drill for the stump on a Chubb 3g114 - 3g115 - 3k74 on the right.

Most locks can be opened by drilling the case only without damage to levers or stump so you can save the lock, bolt and components, we will teach you how to make a key for the lock you have opened, you will also open locks using a 2mm template kit, these kits work on most bs3621 locks.

Lock cases with Euro and Oval cylinders can be opened very simply without the need to drill the cylinder so as avoiding anti drill pins, many thumb turn cylinders can be opened in seconds by bypassing the pins again avoiding using the drill through hardened pins, the drill is the last resort in many circumstances but does have its role when locks go wrong you sometimes have no choice but to measure 3 times and drill once, get it wrong and it can be  hours of frustration trying to open a lock that should have been drilled in 2 or 3 minutes.

This course is also designed for trading locksmiths that wish to know how to drill locks correctly and be supplied with the latest up to date information and drilling techniques

If you intend to drill open a lock you must be able to identify the lock and have a good understanding of the lock with the correct measurements before proceeding to drill, this course includes the CD rom as stated which contains all the information you require to open a lock professionally which would take you years to collect.

HIGH SECURITY BUMP KEY  OPENING.

Duration: 1/2 Day

This  half  day  class is dedicated to the use of bump keys for the opening of high security cylinders such as multi-lock which uses dimple keys and Assa cylinders etc.

The fact is the better the quality of lock the easier the lock is to open, using the correct method most of these locks can be opened in under a minute with ease.

This opening method has been around for about 50 years but has only really been talked about lately due to the amount of press coverage the keys have received in newspapers and television.

We will show you how to make the keys which is very simple and how to use the keys correctly.

If you would like to see some information on the keys being used and the speed of which they can open locks take a look at the website :   http://connectmedia.waag.org/toool/21c3.wmv  slow to start but a lot of useful information, although this site is dedicated to the sport of lock picking it is worth having a look at all the site.

This day also includes a selection of high security bump keys.
